A catchy pop hit from the nineteen-sixties reminds us that breaking up is hard to do. The reason for this is simple: few break-ups are mutual, which means that one party wants to stay together. In this article we are going to discuss what not to do when you want to learn how to get someone back.

Researchers tell us that reconcilliation is common amongst couples who split up. So whatever the reason for your split, the situation is never impossible.

However, this article will show three sorts of behaviour that make it more difficult for you to reconcile with your ex.

For starters, don’t get depressed! We know, it’s easier said than done. But there is nothing less appealing than a person who has been reduced to rubble over a break-up. No, it’s not endearing or flattering or in any way attractive. In fact, it’s kind of creepy.

Whatever you do, don’t talk to your ex about your feelings at this time. It’s important that you do talk though, but talk to a trusted friend or close family member. This will help to clear your head.

As well as depression, which is a hard thing to master, is begging, which is more a matter of self control. Begging an ex to come back can be embarrassing for the ex, and may terminate your relationship for good. Even if you feel that you would do anything to get your ex back, keep to things that are more likely to work, not begging!

Lastly, we wanted to talk a bit about desperation. For some strange, unknown reason, exes can sniff out desperation like a bloodhound. Therefore, if learning how to get someone back is important to you, you may want to stay away from them for a while.

Believe it or not, keeping a distance and not calling or emailing may convince your ex that you are over them, which may encourage them to pick up the phone and check on you. Of course this first phone call will be identified as a pity call or she will simply say that she wanted to check on you. But once she sees that you are doing well and living your life, she may have second thoughts.

With communications open again, don’t push it. Keep initial conversations off your relationship and concentrate on being friends. If things are to develop again, you’ll soon know!
